Not 7 Sentence Sunday, not 9 Sentence Sunday, but 8 Sentence Sunday!!!

It's time for yet another Weekend Writing Warriors 8 Sentence Sunday. So come join us in the fun that is #8sunday! ;)

Click www.wewriwa.com for more information and to see other 8 Sentence Sunday posts.
This post is part of an ongoing blog hop hosted by Weekend Writing Warriors. Every Sunday, participating authors post eight sentences from a published work or even a WIP (work in progress). Then we hop to our fellow warriors’ blogs and check out all the fabulous fiction that’s happening! It's a great way to meet readers, writers, and your next favorite book!  :)

Here are 8 sentences from The Mechanic, one of the stories in the Loving Her series.
Linda - her name means beautiful... After facing rejection from her parents because she is a lesbian, Linda didn’t feel beautiful... she felt lost and alone.

As a skilled mechanic, Linda built her business... Her love life was a different matter. Until Katie...

They survived the brutal beatings they received at the hands of Katie’s ultra-religious father. Together they survived, and together would face their future, and find hope and a joy neither expected.

She ran to the back of her car. She began to quickly and frantically look through the various items in the bed of the car. She haphazardly looked until she found it. She grabbed the can, her funnel, and she ran back to the sedan. She tried to be as quick and discreet as possible, though it’s difficult to hide pouring paint thinner into a car’s gas tank. She held the can almost completely upside down. Some paint thinner spilled and ran down the side of the car. She had poured nearly the entire contents when she feared she had taken too long.

Happy reading!!!

uh-oh, sounds like someone is up to no-good, wonder what happened to make hr do something so potentially damaging. Good imagery.

I wonder if the line would flow a bit smoother as this "She quickly and frantically began to look through the various items in the bed of the car."

Dynamite, Lauren. Definitely makes the reader want to know and what happens next. I know because I bought the book and loved it.

Chelle, you're right. That would read much smoother. I'll have to bear that in mind for the second edition. ;)

Thanks, Charmaine! Glad you liked it! :)

Wow, tense and dramatic, with disaster right around the corner. Great 8!

Exciting, such a dangerous thing to do, hope she doesn't get caught.

Wow this is a great eight Lauren! We found out a little about each lover, who faced very different reactions to their relationship decisions. It's amazing how everyone reacts so very differently when their child comes out of the closet. You really put it into words nicely.

I'm guessing she doesn't want the person in the sedan following her or something--you can really feel her fear, which makes me pretty sure this isn't revenge or a prank!

This grabbed my attention. I really want to know what will happen and I am already attached to the heroine. Wonderful 8
