Holy crow, kids! It's May 30th! Do you know what that means? It means we're up to the letter y in my personal A to Z challenge! Y is for you or yours.

A to Z II - W is for Wake
Holy crow, kids. We are nearing the end of the month and the end of the alphabet! Today's letter is w. W is for wake.
Wake? You ask.
Yes, wake. If you've ever spent any time boating, you might have heard of the term, wake. A wake is the waves a motorboat leaves behind as it is speeding along. See picture below.
What does that have to do with Trajectory?
Well, in life, we all leave a wake. Some good, some bad. We all leave a ripple effect, if you will, right? We touch people, and create some kind of an impact on the world around us. Same principle. I'm just going on a bigger scale.
Joe, for all that he does and all that he is, leaves not just a ripple effect, but a wake behind him.
The streets of Detroit are safer, but people are still affected by those he has shot.
Michael was an incredibly unhealthy and unstable person, but he didn't necessarily deserve his fate.
There is a huge effect touched by many because of Joe. It's not all bad. It's just very broad.
That wake seems to come full circle at the end of the story, which is how and why he ends up back at Claudette's apartment, begging for her acceptance.
The world around us - indeed, life itself - is like water. Moving, ever changing, free, malleable. We have the potential and the power to move it and cause a ripple effect, or even a full blown wake effect based on our words and actions with those around us. It is up to us to decide if we are going to make it good or bad. Joe's story in Trajectory can be an example to us all.

Imperfect and Impeccable for the holidays
I cannot believe it's December 17th!
It's crazy to think we're at the end of 2015 already, isn't it?! Time goes by WAY too quickly!
Since the holidays are officially upon us, I thought it might be a good idea to look at my books as gifts for the readers on your list...or even yourself! ;)
This week, we'll look at my powerhouse duo: Imperfect and Impeccable.

Since the holidays are officially upon us, I thought it might be a good idea to look at my books as gifts for the readers on your list...or even yourself! ;)
This week, we'll look at my powerhouse duo: Imperfect and Impeccable.
These two books tell the life story of a woman named Carol Mathers. We meet Carol on her twenty first birthday, when she's in college. We watch her grow, and blossom. We learn about her past, and walk with her through the present and future.
These books tell not only her story, but the story of her relationships. The severed relationship she has with her mother. The close relationship she shared with her father before he died suddenly and tragically. The relationship she forges with her partner, Alex. Her relationships with all of Alex's family members. We see everyone's humanness, and how that affects their relationships with each other.
Imperfect is Carol's perception of herself. Impeccable is her as her own final masterpiece.
Through ups and downs, thick and thin, we are with Carol every step of the way. It's like being with your best friend on a daily basis.
Imperfect and Impeccable are a set of powerful, life-changing books for readers looking for a story to touch their heart and change their mind.

"I read this book from beginning to end in one sitting. It the sequel to 'Imperfect.' This book had many turns and surprises. I watched the characters grown and lived each page. I kept hoping for a positive ending for Carol in the book. I received a surprise ending that gave the book an added sense that life was moving on. I highly recommend the first book 'Imperfect,' and the book 'Impeccable,' by L E. Harvey. All books are autobiographical because you are present in your the words you write. Thank you Lauren for a very compelling and sad story that showed that life can go on in other ways and down new roads. I recommend both 'Imperfect and Impeccable.'"

Changes
Hiya troops!
I apologize for the brief hiatus. Life just does that some times, doesn't it?
We're at the end of October, nearing the end of the year, and we've gone through all the characters from all of my books. Where do we go from here?
Well, that's a darn good question. As of right now, I have a few WIPs, but one is getting significantly more attention.
If you're friends with me on Facebook, I'm sure you've been inundated with pictures and videos of our baby Lovebirds. One of them was a special little guy named Robert.
Robert suffered some brain damage from an accidental encounter with one of our dogs. He survived, but the effects were obvious. He was slower to develop than his siblings. He was smaller than his siblings. He was slower to develop feathers, and he was behind in his coordination. But he was so cute, and so much fun. I couldn't resist sharing my pictures and videos of him.
He gained quite an audience. So much so, in fact, that he even has his own blog! Please check it out at http://robertsbirdbrain.blogspot.com/
Robert captured the heart of many, so when he unexpectedly passed away, many hearts were saddened.
In his very short life, Robert created a world of good. In his passing, I needed to share that goodness with the world. So, for the first time since I began writing fiction almost a decade ago, I am writing a fantasy. Robert is the hero of this latest novel. I have never done anything like this, but boy is it fun to just let my imagination run wild! I am trying to somewhat emulate J. K. Rowling in writing what is both a children's story, as well as a novel for adults - a story that can reach all audiences. I do hope that you will join me in this endeavor.
So this is where we stand at the present moment. Where we go from here has yet to be determined, but since Robert was so awesome, I have no doubt that this will be awesome as well!

Character of the Week: Corinne from Pianissimo
Corinne Richards: dutiful army housewife, isolated loner, former pianist, home owner, and now piano restorer.
Corinne thought she had finally "made it." She, and her husband Darryl, had just purchased their house. He was due to retire from the army, and they could finally start living the life they had always hoped for.
Life had different plans for her.
Instead, Darryl is shipped off for one last tour. That blow sends Corinne spiraling into isolation and depression. Prior to this, she connected with other military wives. This time...she just gave up.
It's important to look at her history in order to fully understand what brought her to the house in Louisville.
Corinne grew up in Indiana. Hers was a typical mid-Western upbringing. Her parents owned a modest home.
Corinne and her brothers played sports. Their mother also encouraged all of them to play the piano. The lessons didn't stick with the boys very well. Corinne, though, had a natural talent for it.

She was a senior in high school when she was faced with a most difficult decision: piano or soccer? She was being scouted for a possible soccer scholarship, so sports won. Only three games into the season, and she injured her knee, dashing her dreams. To make matters worse, her parents sold the piano after she made her decision, and thus she was left with nothing.
She and Darryl met at Indiana State. He was working towards a degree in electronics engineering, she was in the General Studies program. It was love at first sight. Their courtship lasted through all four years at the college.
At that time, Darryl wanted to get some hands-on training, so he enlisted in the army. Desperate not to lose him, Corinne begged and pleaded with him to get married. So they did. In a small ceremony performed by a Justice of the Peace, Corinne became Mrs. Richards, and was able to travel with Darryl to different posts.
Years of moving and tours came and went. When Darryl FINALLY decided not to re-enlist, Corinne couldn't have been happier. She was finally getting her husband all to herself. She could finally have a "normal" life like she had growing up. So they bought a house and got ready to settle down. Then Darryl gets shipped off one last time...
What they didn't know when they bought the old farm house was that it was rich in history. It belonged to one of the most prominent Louisville families. It had stories, it had pictures, it had a piano, it had ghosts!
The spirits of the Walker family made themselves quite known to Corinne, even though she had no desire to meet them. What begins as a frightening, and terrifying occurrence becomes a wonderful lesson in history and humanity for Corinne.
She discovers the old, dilapidated piano. She discovers the old photos, letters, and journals. And through it all, she discovers herself.
Corinne is not a likely heroine. She's a rather "average" gal. She has no dreams of making it big. She just wants a normal family life. What she discovers is that family is what you make of it. Her ability to open her eyes and open her mind makes her one of my favorites, and possible even one of the greatest heroines in literature.
