Battle Born Love

Good morning, readers! :)

Today, I want to tell you about a book I just read called, Battle Born Love, by author Lynda Bailey.

Be sure to check out her page at http://www.lyndabailey.net/

And also be sure to check in NEXT WEEK, when Ms. Bailey stops by with a guest blog for us all! :)

A hopeless romantic, yet not one to necessarily paruse the romance section right away, I wasn't sure what this book would be like.

Let me tell you that even though I had no expectations, I was STILL pleasantly surprised with it. This book gave me the raw reality of addiction; an honest look at a strong, hard-working, independent woman; a great love story peppered with some steamy scenes and a good, strong plot.

I loved the characters and their depth. There is emotion, these are not two-dimensional paper cut-outs. I loved how the families were functioning dysfunctionals. I could easily see these dynamics and communication patterns in real life. And then you can see how those family histories affect the two main characters, Rory and Kane, and how they interact with each other (everyone's family, familial communication styles, etc. affect how we interact with each other).

This was a fun read, a quick read and a good read.

If you're looking for a new good romance author to read, I would definitely recommend Lynda Bailey! :)

IMPERFECT

Hello everyone! I am excited to announce that my newest release, Imperfect,
is now available in several e-book formats! You can find it on smashwords.com, omnilit.com, allromanceebooks.com, barnesandnoble.com and amazon.com! You can read it on your computer, Kindle, Nook, iPad or other e-book device!

Imperfect is the first book in a set of two. Imperfect tells the story of Carol Mathers. Carol was born a sickly child, in a home fraught with undercurrents that threaten to sweep away any chance she might have for a ‘normal’ life. Now in her mid-thirties, she's a highly sought-after IT guru in St. Louis. She has built a great life for herself with her partner, Alexandria, even though the two face prejudice as lesbians, and as an interracial couple -fighting tragedy and sometimes, finding triumph.

Carol discovers that she has acquired AIDS as a result of a childhood transfusion from the dark period of time before AIDS was widely known… or understood, not even by the medical profession. Now, the two women face even more obstacles, prejudice, and a strange, new life as AIDS patients and it all causes her to wonder about the meaning of and purpose of her own life… or if there is any purpose at all…

Here's a little excerpt for all of you to enjoy! Happy reading!

Carol lay in the dark staring at the ceiling. Alex was lying next to her. Thoughts were racing through Carol's head. AIDS. AIDS? AIDS! How could this have happened? It seemed prophetic when Carol told Alex early in their relationship that everything she touched died or simply fell apart.

Carol suddenly shot up in bed. “No, no, no!” She screamed in her head. Carol grabbed her hair by the roots and pulled her head down.

Alex sat up without saying a word and gently rubbed Carol's back.

“Ed.” Carol's weak voice broke the silence of the night. Tears began racing down her face.

“Ed? What do you mean, Ed?”

All Carol could do was cry and repeat herself, “Ed.”

Alex continued to rub Carol's back as she waited quietly.

“Ed – Ed died because of me,” Carol finally spat out the words.
