To celebrate the holiday, I want to give you a little sample from First Christmas. It's a follow up short story to Pianissimo.
Corinne tightly
held her coffee mug. It was forty two degrees out. Cold enough for her. She pulled
back the curtain and looked out the window. No white Christmas here. Not today,
anyway. Corinne couldn’t help but to feel bummed by seeing green grass. It
wasn’t anything like her childhood Christmases in Indiana.
“Oh well,” she
sighed.
Darryl was still
sleeping. It was about a quarter after eight. He should be getting up soon. She
hoped. She wanted to spend Christmas with him, even if it was a quiet one. It
was their first Christmas since he retired from the Army. It was their first
Christmas in this new house. It was almost like it was their first Christmas
all together. It was incredibly important to her. She didn’t want to sit in
solitude on this day. She had done enough of that when he was out serving.
Just as she was
about to let go of the curtain, she saw that Rich and Susie were out across the
street.
Corinne smiled
and opened the door just enough to step out and wave.
Rich looked up
and saw her. He gently nudged Susie. “Merry Christmas!” They called out.
Corinne
continued to wave. “Merry Christmas!” She shouted back with a big smile.
They smiled
back, got into their car and drove off. Corinne loved them. They were the
greatest neighbors she had ever had. They were friends. They were even like
family. She was so grateful to have forged such a great relationship with them.
She stepped back
in and closed the door. A chill ran through her. She took a long sip of her
warm coffee. That should help her to warm up quickly.
Suddenly, Millie
and Mollie came racing out of nowhere, nearly tripping her. Just as Corinne
regained her stability, she could hear the heavy thump of Darryl coming down
the stairs. Good! He was up. Now Christmas could begin.

It is that time of year!
Happy Thursday, folks!
Hopefully everyone is staying warm, and isn't snowed in too badly.
Winter has come fast and hard (at least around here). With the snow and the cold, we set our sights on the holiday season.
This season, I have more books and stories than every. Print, e-book, audio - whichever you (or the readers in your life) prefer.
If you're looking to get a small sample of my writing, and get a sneak peek into the characters and world in Pianissimo, might I suggest, First Christmas.

All About My Books

Today, I want to take the time to introduce and re-introduce you to my books.

Pianissimo:
Darryl and Corinne Richards purchase their first house. With Darryl’s army career coming to a close, they feel ready to settle down in Louisville, Kentucky. With impeccable timing, Darryl is sent on one final tour, leaving Corinne to live in this new house and new city alone.
Overwhelmed, Corinne becomes reclusive, living a quiet, boring life with her cats as she adjusts to her new surroundings. The problem is: someone or some thing does not want her life to be either quiet or boring. And then there’s the creepy piano in the basement…
There is more to that creepy, dilapidated piano and her new home than Corinne could ever imagine. Through highs and lows, twists and turns, she begins to understand that even the most softly played music is powerful – and that even soft realizations and quietly subtle changes can have a profound effect.
Carol is forced to face the demons of her past as well as begin to face life without Alex. Struggling to make sense of it all, Carol experiences her new life and all of the highs and lows that come with that life.
A fateful call sends Joe and his team deep into the Detroit
Ghetto; and reminds him that there is more to life than what's on the
other end of his gun.
Refusing to take no for an answer, Tony eventually kidnaps her and keeps her as his prisoner in a cabin well hidden in the woods.
Lareina is held hostage for over two weeks. The only thing keeping her alive is her determination and resourcefulness. Lareina uses her wits and knowledge of algebra to send Sandy and her family text messages in order to help them to find her. Sandy; Lareina's family; her professor from UCLA, and a lonely but dedicated Missing Persons policeman named Marcus Raymer work night and day to try to save Lareina. She is held hostage, and raped and tortured for days on end. Will they be able to get to her before it’s too late?

School life seems normal, though one of her classmates, Tony Covelli, is captivated by Lareina and pursues her throughout the semester. Repeatedly, Lareina turns Tony down and focuses more on her private life. Dec. 3 Holiday Author Event!
Happy Black Friday, everyone!
Today, in addition to being the day after Thanksgiving,
the day of very scary shopping stories,
and just plain old Friday,
it is my beloved's birthday! :)
Happy birthday to the most wonderful woman in the world! :)
As much as I would love to ramble endlessly about the love of my life, today's blog does have a literary purpose.
You see, in just 8 days, I will be at the Fairport Public Library in Fairport, NY for the local authors holiday book festival! It's an event to celebrate local authors who have had releases in 2011, and of course it's a good holiday shopping event for the book-lover on your list.
So, if you're in the greater Rochester area, please stop on by! I'd love to meet you and autography copies of any and all of my books for ya! ;)
